Since 1968, the Jakarta Players has delighted audiences with heartwarming musicals, compelling dramas, laugh out loud comedies, and thought provoking new works. A theatre community consisting of a large network of individuals from various nations interested in the arts: directing, performing, stage-management and much more. Our dedicated volunteers help to produce shows every year, which enables Jakarta Players to make significant donations to Indonesian families in need. With the help of our sponsors, Jakarta Players is able to provide entertainment while helping the community.
Get Involved
The Jakarta Players welcomes all nationalities and we currently have over 600 people in our community. There are many ways to get involved, from watching shows as an audience member and helping out backstage on set design, lighting, sound, props, costumes, makeup and ticket sales to acting, directing and producing. You don't need any previous experience in theatre to get started and many people learn new skills by helping out on productions with experienced actors, directors, producers and technical people. There is no pressure to get up on stage and perform and every bit of help is welcome!
Apart from staging two or three plays or musicals a year, we put on occasional social events that have included improvisation evenings, movie quizzes, meals, short plays, skits, and musical performances. Coming along to any of our events (or auditions!) is a great way to meet some of the community and get started with Jakarta Players.
