AFTERNOON OF DRAMA
The Meisner Core Program teaches the approach to acting developed by Sanford Meisner (The Meisner Institute, Los Angeles, USA) and explores what it means to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances”. Actors engage in Meisner exercises like Repetition and Independent Activity.
In this special Jakarta Players’ community event, our current workshop students will be opening their doors to let you watch the fruits of their 16-week intensive Meisner Core Program, a collaboration between Jakarta Players Community Theatre and Sightlines Actors' Space from the Philippines, led by Meisner certified instructor Alecx Lorica.
To accompany you during the show, enjoy some of The American Club’s select meals and refreshments available for purchase at the venue!
There is no entrance fee for this evening of drinks, food, fun, laughter, and maybe...tears?

A: The Meisner technique is an acting approach developed by Sanford Meisner (The Meisner Institute, Los Angeles, USA) and explores what it means to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances”. Actors engage in Meisner exercises like Repetition, Emotional Preparation, and Independent Activity.
Q: What is the Meisner Core Program?
A: Our Meisner Core Program is a 16-week acting workshop taught by Sightlines Actors' Space founder Alecx Lorica, in collaboration with the Jakarta Players Community Theatre. Students are taught the basics of the Meisner acting approach through exercises devised by the acting guru Sanford Meisner in order to achieve a truthful and compeling performance.
Q: Will the performance be suitable for kids?
A: The theme and the languages that are used in the scenes are not suitable for children.
Q: How long will the performance be?
A: Since the performance will be part of the workshop's last session, it will follow the students' pace and divided in two sections with a 15-minute break in-between. The estimated length of each section is 1 hour.
Q: What kind of refreshments will be available for purchase?
